A mail carrier's habits, applied to your dog
Rick Salk started Take Me Out Pets after a 38-year career with the postal service and a background in the U.S. Coast Guard. That history of service means we value reliability and showing up when we say we will.
As Warwick locals, we're committed to the West Warwick community too. Rick has been a volunteer at the Warwick Animal Shelter since the 1990s, walking dogs, and that experience taught him to handle pets of every temperament with patience.
Take Me Out Pets is fully bonded and insured, and we're trained in pet CPR and first aid. Cate, a retired massage therapist and long-time cat rescue volunteer, looks after the cats. You get photos and updates during our visits, so you never have to wonder how your pets are doing.
Walks, drop-ins and overnights, at your dog's pace
Some dogs need a high-energy nature hike to burn off steam, others want a slow stroll to catch up on the local scents. We tailor each visit to the pet, because a tired dog is a happy dog.
- Dog Walking
We plan our walks around your dog's specific energy level and favorite pace: a fast run, or a sniff at every tree.
- In-Home Pet Sitting
Feedings, playtime and plenty of attention for dogs, cats and small animals, in their own home. Visits of 15, 30 or 45 minutes.
- Overnight Care
A 12-hour stay that covers evening and morning feedings, walks, and company through the night.
- Puppies and Seniors
Potty breaks and good habits for puppies; a slower pace and a bit more patience for older pets.
- Medication and Pet Taxi
Medications given to your vet's instructions, rides to vet appointments, and the litter box and yard kept clean.
- Trail Hikes and Swims
For dogs with energy to burn, trips to local trails and swimming spots, because a walk around the block isn't always enough.

Details owners ask Rick about
Are you insured and trained in pet safety?
Absolutely. Take Me Out Pets is fully bonded and insured for your peace of mind. Our team is trained in pet CPR and first aid, and our founder, Rick Salk, brings decades of experience from his work at the Warwick Animal Shelter.
Do you look after pets other than dogs and cats?
We definitely do. Whether they have fur, feathers, or scales, we are happy to help. We look after birds, fish, reptiles, and small mammals too.
Can you keep to my pet's routine and give medication?
Yes. We know pets do best when their routine stays the same, so we follow your specific instructions for feeding and exercise to the letter. We are also experienced in giving medications and can help reinforce any training you're currently working on during our visits.
Will I get updates during visits?
We'll send you photos and updates during our visits so you can see for yourself that your pet is happy and well-cared for.
