Stop 1 · the walk

Walks that go at their pace, not ours

We plan our walks around your dog's specific energy level and favorite pace: a fast run, or a sniff at every tree.

The walk that only goes through the motions

Plenty of dog walks are a quick loop around the block with a leash and a timer. The dog comes home with energy to spare, or an older dog gets pulled along faster than their legs want to go. That isn't how Rick and Cate Salk run a walk in Conimicut.

The rule is written right on the page: we don't just go through the motions. Every walk is planned around your dog's specific energy level and favorite pace, so a dog who wants a brisk hike gets one, and a dog who wants a slow stroll gets that instead.

How does a walk run when the dog sets the pace?

Some dogs want to run. Others want to sniff every tree. Rick lets your dog decide, whether that means a fast run or a slow stroll through the neighborhood, and keeps the whole outing relaxed and stress-free.

He sticks to the training routine you already have, refreshes their water, and makes sure they get plenty of attention before he heads out. Photos and updates reach your phone during the visit, so you can see for yourself that your dog is happy. Audrey C. says he walks her dog rain or shine.

Rick takes walks Monday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, around Warwick and Conimicut. Call (401) 527-0035 and he'll start with a meet and greet at your home, so your dog knows him before the first walk.

Home happy and ready for a nap

The point of a good walk is what happens after it. A dog who got the exercise and the sniffing they wanted comes through the door happy, ready for a nap, and calm while you finish the work day.

It helps to have the same walker week after week. June C. writes that Rich has walked Sadie for 2 years now, twice a week, and that Sadie looks forward to his visits. Gioia D. says Rich has walked Ziggy for 3 years and that Ziggy loves his walks.

A 15-minute visit is $20, 20 minutes is $25, 30 minutes is $30 and 45 minutes is $35. A second pet adds $5, and there's a $3 travel fee for homes 7 miles or more from Warwick. We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel.
